0676899 Bushing (Idler Gear) — Cat 206 307

This is a CAT Bushing for an Idler Gear, a crucial wear item within the undercarriage system that facilitates smooth rotation and reduces friction between moving parts. It is manufactured to precise specifications, offering superior durability and performance compared to worn bushings that can lead to increased noise and premature wear. Operators may notice increased noise from the idler area, excessive play in the idler assembly, or accelerated wear on the idler shaft when this bushing begins to fail.

Failure Symptoms

Increased noise, such as grinding or rattling, emanating from the idler area and noticeable looseness or excessive play in the idler assembly are early indicators of bushing wear. If ignored, the bushing can wear to the point of metal-on-metal contact, causing rapid damage to the idler shaft and potentially seizing the idler. This can lead to premature failure of the entire idler group and track system damage.

Installation Tip

Ensure the idler shaft and the inside of the idler wheel are thoroughly cleaned and free of any burrs or contaminants before installation. Use a proper press or driver to seat the bushing evenly, avoiding cocking.

Service Note

When replacing the idler gear bushing, inspect the idler shaft, idler wheel, and seals for wear or damage.
