This is a critical seal designed to prevent lubricant leakage and contamination ingress within the hydraulic system of Caterpillar excavators. It is manufactured to meet stringent OEM material and dimensional standards, ensuring superior sealing performance compared to worn or damaged seals. Operators may notice hydraulic fluid leaks around the component or a gradual loss of hydraulic system pressure if this seal fails.

Failure Symptoms

Visible hydraulic fluid leaks around the affected component are the first sign of a failing seal. If left unaddressed, the leakage will worsen, leading to a gradual decrease in hydraulic system performance and potential overheating. Continued operation with a compromised seal risks significant damage to hydraulic pumps and cylinders due to insufficient lubrication or contamination.

Installation Tip

Thoroughly clean the seal bore and the shaft or piston rod to prevent debris from damaging the new seal during installation. Avoid using excessive force or sharp tools, which can easily nick or tear the seal lip.

Service Note

Inspect the hydraulic fluid for signs of contamination and check the condition of adjacent seals and hoses.
