Failure Symptoms

The most common initial symptom of a failing hydraulic pump is a noticeable decrease in the speed and power of hydraulic functions. If ignored, the pump may begin to generate excessive heat or noise, leading to intermittent loss of hydraulic pressure and potential system overheating. Continued operation with a failing pump risks widespread contamination of the hydraulic system, damaging other expensive components.

Installation Tip

Ensure the hydraulic fluid reservoir is filled to the correct level and that the pump shaft is properly aligned with the drive coupling before installation. Never run the pump dry, as this can quickly cause internal damage.

Service Note

Inspect hydraulic filters, fluid lines, and hydraulic cylinders for wear or damage when replacing the hydraulic pump.
