Installation & Application Notes

Never run an engine without a filter — even briefly causes abrasive damage. Pre-fill fuel filters with clean fuel before fitting to reduce prime time. Replace O-rings on filter housings every second service. Record change dates on filter housing.

Failure Symptoms

A failing 9P5174 element might initially cause a slight increase in oil pressure or a dimming of the oil pressure warning light. If left unaddressed, the element will become severely restricted, leading to bypass valve activation and unfiltered oil circulation, or a significant drop in oil pressure. This can result in accelerated wear on engine bearings and other critical components.

Installation Tip

Before installing the new element, ensure the filter housing is clean and free of any old gasket material or debris. Do not reuse the old O-ring seal; always install a new one with the new element.
