Installation & Application Notes

Never run an engine without a filter — even briefly causes abrasive damage. Pre-fill fuel filters with clean fuel before fitting to reduce prime time. Replace O-rings on filter housings every second service. Record change dates on filter housing.

Failure Symptoms

A clogged air filter will initially lead to a noticeable reduction in engine power and responsiveness, especially under load. As the restriction increases, fuel consumption will rise, and the engine may start to run rough or produce black exhaust smoke due to incomplete combustion. In severe cases, prolonged operation with a blocked filter can lead to engine overheating and internal damage.

Installation Tip

Ensure the air filter housing is thoroughly cleaned before installing the new element to prevent any residual dirt from being drawn into the engine. Make sure the new filter is properly seated and the housing is securely sealed.

When replacing the air filter element, inspect the intake piping for any cracks or leaks and check the turbocharger for excessive play.
