Installation & Application Notes

Never run an engine without a filter — even briefly causes abrasive damage. Pre-fill fuel filters with clean fuel before fitting to reduce prime time. Replace O-rings on filter housings every second service. Record change dates on filter housing.

Failure Symptoms

A clogged oil filter may initially present as a slight increase in engine oil temperature or a dimming of the oil pressure warning light. If ignored, this can lead to increased friction and wear on engine components, potentially causing reduced engine performance and eventual internal damage. Prolonged operation with a blocked filter risks severe engine failure due to lack of lubrication.

Installation Tip

Always lubricate the rubber gasket on the new filter with clean engine oil before installation to ensure a proper seal. Do not overtighten the filter; hand-tight plus a quarter turn is usually sufficient.

Service Note

Inspect the engine oil for signs of metal particles or coolant contamination and check the oil pan and drain plug for any damage when replacing the oil filter.
