Installation & Application Notes

Never run an engine without a filter — even briefly causes abrasive damage. Pre-fill fuel filters with clean fuel before fitting to reduce prime time. Replace O-rings on filter housings every second service. Record change dates on filter housing.

Failure Symptoms

A dirty air filter initially causes a slight reduction in engine power and may increase black smoke from the exhaust. If left unaddressed, the engine will struggle to breathe, leading to significant performance degradation and increased internal wear. Continued operation with a severely restricted air filter can lead to engine misfires and potential damage to internal components.

Installation Tip

Ensure the air filter housing is completely clean before installing the new filter to prevent any debris from compromising the seal. Do not overtighten the housing clamps, as this can distort the seal and allow unfiltered air to enter.

Inspect the intake manifold and turbocharger for any signs of oil or soot buildup, which could indicate a failing air filter or other intake system issues.
