Installation & Application Notes

Never run an engine without a filter — even briefly causes abrasive damage. Pre-fill fuel filters with clean fuel before fitting to reduce prime time. Replace O-rings on filter housings every second service. Record change dates on filter housing.

Failure Symptoms

Initial signs of a clogged oil filter include a slight increase in oil pressure warning light illumination or a decrease in oil pressure readings. If left unaddressed, the filter's bypass valve will open, allowing unfiltered oil to circulate, leading to severe engine wear.

Installation Tip

Always lubricate the rubber gasket with clean engine oil before installation to ensure a proper seal. Do not use any tools to tighten the filter; hand-tighten only until the gasket contacts the mounting surface, then an additional 3/4 to 1 full turn.

Service Note

Check the engine oil level and condition, and consider replacing the oil at the same time.
