Installation & Application Notes

Never run an engine without a filter — even briefly causes abrasive damage. Pre-fill fuel filters with clean fuel before fitting to reduce prime time. Replace O-rings on filter housings every second service. Record change dates on filter housing.

Failure Symptoms

A dirty or damaged air filter element will first manifest as a noticeable reduction in engine power and potentially increased fuel consumption. If the element becomes severely restricted or develops a tear, unfiltered air can enter the engine, leading to accelerated wear on internal components like pistons and cylinder liners. The worst consequence is potential engine damage from abrasive particles.

Installation Tip

Always clean the inside of the air cleaner housing thoroughly before installing the new element to prevent any dirt from bypassing the filter. Ensure the element is seated correctly and the housing seals are properly engaged.

Service Note

Inspect the turbocharger and intake manifold for any signs of oil or soot contamination when replacing the air filter element.
