Installation & Application Notes

Never run an engine without a filter — even briefly causes abrasive damage. Pre-fill fuel filters with clean fuel before fitting to reduce prime time. Replace O-rings on filter housings every second service. Record change dates on filter housing.

Failure Symptoms

Early indicators of a failing water separator include intermittent engine hesitation or a slight loss of power, especially under load. If the water separator becomes saturated or its filter media degrades, it will allow water and contaminants to reach the injection system, potentially causing rough idling and increased emissions. Continued operation without effective water separation can lead to severe damage to fuel injectors and pumps.

Installation Tip

Ensure the new separator's sealing surfaces are clean and lubricated with a light coat of fuel before installation to prevent leaks. Do not overtighten the housing, as this can crack the plastic components.

Service Note

Regularly drain the collected water and sediment from the bowl, and inspect the fuel lines for any signs of leaks or damage.
