Installation & Application Notes

Never run an engine without a filter — even briefly causes abrasive damage. Pre-fill fuel filters with clean fuel before fitting to reduce prime time. Replace O-rings on filter housings every second service. Record change dates on filter housing.

Failure Symptoms

An engine operating with a restricted air filter will exhibit a gradual loss of power and may start to run rough, particularly during acceleration. If the filter fails or bypasses, abrasive particles can enter the cylinders, causing scoring of cylinder walls and piston rings, leading to increased oil consumption and blow-by.

Installation Tip

Ensure the sealing surfaces of the air cleaner housing are clean and free of debris before installing the new element to guarantee a proper seal. Never attempt to clean and reuse a disposable air filter element; always replace it with a new one.

Service Note

When replacing the air filter, inspect the intake piping for any cracks or leaks and check the turbocharger impeller for damage or debris.
