Failure Symptoms

Early signs of a failing clutch disc include a noticeable shudder or vibration when engaging the clutch, or a reduction in acceleration. If the friction material wears down significantly, clutch slippage will occur, causing the engine RPM to increase without a corresponding increase in vehicle speed, and potentially a burning odor. Continued operation with a worn disc can damage the flywheel and pressure plate, leading to more extensive and costly repairs.

Installation Tip

Ensure the flywheel and pressure plate surfaces are clean, smooth, and free of oil or grease before installation. Use a clutch alignment tool to properly center the disc before tightening the pressure plate bolts.

Service Note

Always replace the clutch pressure plate and release bearing when installing a new clutch disc.
