5i-7589 Turbo Td06H Turbocharger — Cat 320D 320C

This is a Turbo Td06H Turbocharger, a forced induction device that uses exhaust gases to spin a turbine, which in turn drives a compressor to force more air into the engine cylinders. It significantly boosts engine power and efficiency. A failing turbocharger will typically result in a loss of engine power, excessive smoke from the exhaust, and unusual noises like whistling or grinding.

Installation & Application Notes

Inspect mating surfaces for wear before fitting. Use torque specs from service manual. Replace gaskets and seals as a set — reusing compressed gaskets causes oil leaks. Clean all oil passages with compressed air.

Always consult the OEM service manual for model-specific torque values and procedures. WhatsApp our technical team if you need fitment guidance.

Failure Symptoms

A significant loss of engine power, accompanied by excessive blue or black smoke from the exhaust, are the primary indicators of a failing turbocharger. You may also hear unusual noises, such as a high-pitched whistle or grinding sound, emanating from the turbo unit. Continued operation with a failing turbo can lead to internal engine damage and potential catastrophic failure of the turbocharger itself.

Installation Tip

Thoroughly clean the oil supply and return lines before installing the new turbocharger to prevent contamination. Ensure the exhaust manifold studs and nuts are in good condition.

Service Note

Inspect the engine's air intake system for leaks and check the condition of the exhaust system for any restrictions.
