422-1144-20r-4180 Fuel Injector — Cat Engine 3606 3608 3612 3616

This fuel injector is a precision-engineered component responsible for delivering a finely atomized spray of diesel fuel into the combustion chamber at the correct time and pressure. Manufactured to exact tolerances, it ensures optimal fuel combustion and engine efficiency, unlike a worn or faulty injector. Operators may experience rough idling, reduced engine power, increased fuel consumption, or black smoke from the exhaust when this injector is not functioning properly.

Installation & Application Notes

Inspect mating surfaces for wear before fitting. Use torque specs from service manual. Replace gaskets and seals as a set — reusing compressed gaskets causes oil leaks. Clean all oil passages with compressed air.

Always consult the OEM service manual for model-specific torque values and procedures. WhatsApp our technical team if you need fitment guidance.

Failure Symptoms

The initial symptom of a failing fuel injector is often a slight increase in exhaust smoke or a subtle decrease in engine smoothness. If ignored, the injector may clog further, leading to noticeable power loss and increased fuel consumption. The worst-case scenario is engine damage due to improper combustion or fuel dilution of the lubricating oil.

Installation Tip

Ensure the injector seat in the cylinder head is perfectly clean and free of carbon deposits before installing the new injector. Avoid rotating the injector during installation, as this can damage the sealing surfaces.

Service Note

Inspect the fuel lines, fuel filter, and engine oil for signs of contamination when replacing a fuel injector.
