Failure Symptoms

Initial signs of a failing boom cylinder seal kit include a slight drift in the boom when holding a position. If ignored, the leakage will worsen, leading to slower and less responsive boom movements, and potentially requiring more frequent hydraulic fluid top-offs. Continued operation with severely degraded seals can result in loss of hydraulic pressure and inability to lift or control the boom effectively.

Installation Tip

Thoroughly clean the cylinder bore and rod before beginning to prevent introducing contaminants that can damage the new seals. Avoid using sharp tools to install the seals, as this can easily cause nicks or cuts that compromise their sealing ability.
