370-7998 Piston Kit — Cat

This is a Piston Kit for CAT C7 engines, essential for the combustion process within the engine cylinders. It includes pistons, rings, and often wrist pins, manufactured to precise tolerances for optimal sealing and heat transfer, unlike worn components which exhibit scoring and reduced compression. Operators may notice a significant loss of engine power, increased exhaust smoke, and audible knocking sounds from the engine when this kit fails.

Installation & Application Notes

Inspect mating surfaces for wear before fitting. Use torque specs from service manual. Replace gaskets and seals as a set — reusing compressed gaskets causes oil leaks. Clean all oil passages with compressed air.

Always consult the OEM service manual for model-specific torque values and procedures. WhatsApp our technical team if you need fitment guidance.

Failure Symptoms

A noticeable decrease in engine power and increased blue or black exhaust smoke are the initial indicators of piston issues. If left unaddressed, the engine may begin to consume excessive oil, develop a persistent knocking sound, and eventually suffer from reduced compression and overheating. Continued operation risks severe internal engine damage.

Installation Tip

Thoroughly clean the cylinder bores and inspect them for any scoring or out-of-roundness before installing new pistons. Ensure the piston rings are correctly oriented and seated in their respective grooves.

Service Note

Inspect cylinder liners, connecting rod bearings, and crankshaft journals for wear when replacing the piston kit.
