338-1149 Water Pump — Cat

This is a high-performance water pump, essential for circulating coolant through the engine to maintain optimal operating temperatures. It is built to CAT standards, ensuring reliable flow and durability, unlike a worn pump which may exhibit leaks or reduced impeller efficiency. Observable symptoms of a faulty water pump include engine overheating, coolant leaks from the pump weep hole, and a whining noise from the pump bearing.

Installation & Application Notes

Inspect mating surfaces for wear before fitting. Use torque specs from service manual. Replace gaskets and seals as a set — reusing compressed gaskets causes oil leaks. Clean all oil passages with compressed air.

Always consult the OEM service manual for model-specific torque values and procedures. WhatsApp our technical team if you need fitment guidance.

Failure Symptoms

The most common initial symptom of a failing water pump is a noticeable coolant leak, often originating from the weep hole. If ignored, the pump's ability to circulate coolant will diminish, leading to consistent engine overheating. Continued operation with a compromised water pump can result in severe engine damage due to excessive heat.

Installation Tip

Thoroughly clean the engine block mounting surface to ensure a perfect seal for the new gasket. Do not overtighten the mounting bolts, as this can distort the pump housing.

Service Note

Inspect the radiator, hoses, and thermostat for signs of wear or blockage when replacing the water pump.
