3370201 Crankshaft — Cat C15

This crankshaft is the primary rotating component of the engine, converting the reciprocating motion of the pistons into rotational force to drive the equipment. Manufactured from high-strength forged steel, it ensures robust performance and longevity, unlike a worn crankshaft that may exhibit bearing journal damage or cracks. Signs of crankshaft failure include knocking sounds from the engine, excessive vibration, and oil pressure fluctuations.

Installation & Application Notes

Inspect mating surfaces for wear before fitting. Use torque specs from service manual. Replace gaskets and seals as a set — reusing compressed gaskets causes oil leaks. Clean all oil passages with compressed air.

Always consult the OEM service manual for model-specific torque values and procedures. WhatsApp our technical team if you need fitment guidance.

Failure Symptoms

A persistent knocking or deep rumbling sound originating from the engine's lower end is a critical symptom of crankshaft issues. This can progress to severe engine vibration and a significant drop in oil pressure if the crankshaft bearings are failing. Continued operation risks catastrophic engine seizure due to the loss of lubrication and mechanical integrity.

Installation Tip

Ensure all crankshaft bearing surfaces and oil passages are meticulously cleaned and lubricated with assembly lube before installation. Never use abrasive materials to clean bearing journals, as this can damage the hardened surface.

Service Note

Inspect and replace main and connecting rod bearings, as well as piston rings and cylinder liners, when installing a new crankshaft.
