3327300 Camshaft — Cat C18

This camshaft is a core component of the engine's valve train, precisely controlling the opening and closing of intake and exhaust valves to regulate airflow into and out of the cylinders. Manufactured from high-strength steel with hardened lobes, it ensures durability and accurate timing for optimal engine performance. A worn or damaged camshaft can lead to reduced engine power, rough idling, increased emissions, and potential valve-to-piston contact if timing is severely compromised.

Installation & Application Notes

Inspect mating surfaces for wear before fitting. Use torque specs from service manual. Replace gaskets and seals as a set — reusing compressed gaskets causes oil leaks. Clean all oil passages with compressed air.

Always consult the OEM service manual for model-specific torque values and procedures. WhatsApp our technical team if you need fitment guidance.

Failure Symptoms

Early signs of camshaft wear include a noticeable decrease in engine power and a rougher idle, often accompanied by ticking or clattering noises from the valve train. If the wear progresses, valve timing can become significantly inaccurate, leading to poor fuel combustion, increased exhaust smoke, and potential damage to pistons or valves. The risk is severe engine internal damage and complete loss of engine operation.

Installation Tip

Thoroughly clean all oil passages in the engine block and cylinder head before installing the new camshaft to ensure proper lubrication. Ensure the camshaft timing marks are precisely aligned with the crankshaft timing marks during installation.

Service Note

Replace the valve lifters (tappets) and inspect the timing gears and chain/belt for wear when installing a new camshaft.
