Failure Symptoms

A failing oil filter may initially present as a slight increase in engine noise or a temporary oil pressure warning light. If ignored, the filter's media can become saturated, leading to bypass valve activation and unfiltered oil circulating through the engine. This unfiltered oil accelerates wear on critical engine components, potentially causing significant internal damage.

Installation Tip

Always lubricate the rubber gasket on the new filter with clean engine oil before installation to ensure a proper seal. Hand-tighten the filter firmly after the gasket makes contact, then give it an additional three-quarters of a turn, or follow specific instructions if provided.
