Failure Symptoms

The first indication of failing hydraulic cylinder seals is often external fluid leakage around the cylinder rod or barrel, or a noticeable decrease in the speed and smoothness of cylinder operation. If ignored, internal leakage will worsen, leading to a loss of hydraulic force and control, potentially causing the equipment to fail to lift or actuate properly. Continued operation risks damage to the cylinder bore and piston, requiring more extensive repairs.

Installation Tip

Thoroughly clean the inside of the cylinder barrel and the piston rod to prevent damage to the new seals. Ensure all new seals are properly lubricated with clean hydraulic fluid before installation to prevent tearing or premature wear.

Service Note

Inspect the cylinder rod for scoring or damage, and clean or replace the hydraulic fluid and filter if contamination is suspected.
