313-3996 Crankshaft — Cat C11

This crankshaft is the rotating heart of the engine, converting reciprocating piston motion into rotational torque to power the equipment. Manufactured to stringent material and dimensional standards, it ensures smooth power delivery and longevity, unlike a worn crankshaft which may exhibit bearing journal damage or fatigue cracks. Operators may notice increased engine vibration, abnormal knocking sounds, or a significant loss of power when a crankshaft begins to fail.

Installation & Application Notes

Inspect mating surfaces for wear before fitting. Use torque specs from service manual. Replace gaskets and seals as a set — reusing compressed gaskets causes oil leaks. Clean all oil passages with compressed air.

Always consult the OEM service manual for model-specific torque values and procedures. WhatsApp our technical team if you need fitment guidance.

Failure Symptoms

The initial indication of a crankshaft issue might be an unusual deep knocking sound from the engine's lower end, often accompanied by increased vibration. As the problem progresses, this knocking intensifies, and a significant loss of engine power becomes apparent, making the equipment sluggish and unresponsive. Continued operation risks severe internal engine damage, potentially leading to complete engine seizure.

Installation Tip

Ensure all crankshaft bearings are properly lubricated with assembly lube before installation to prevent initial startup damage. Never reuse old main bearing bolts; always install new ones to ensure correct clamping force.

Service Note

When replacing a crankshaft, meticulously inspect all main and connecting rod bearings for signs of wear or damage, and check cylinder liners for scoring.
