312-8933 Serpentine Belt — Cat 3176C 140H

This is a CAT Serpentine Belt, designed to drive multiple accessories such as the alternator, power steering pump, and air conditioning compressor from the engine's crankshaft. It is constructed from durable, high-strength rubber compounds to resist wear and slippage, unlike a worn belt that may crack or fray. Operators may notice a squealing noise from the engine bay, a lack of power to accessories, or a battery warning light when the serpentine belt is failing.

Installation & Application Notes

Inspect mating surfaces for wear before fitting. Use torque specs from service manual. Replace gaskets and seals as a set — reusing compressed gaskets causes oil leaks. Clean all oil passages with compressed air.

Always consult the OEM service manual for model-specific torque values and procedures. WhatsApp our technical team if you need fitment guidance.

Failure Symptoms

The most common initial symptom of a failing serpentine belt is a high-pitched squealing noise, especially upon startup or acceleration. If ignored, the belt may crack, fray, or break, leading to a loss of power to critical accessories like the alternator or water pump. A broken belt will render the machine inoperable and can cause overheating.

Installation Tip

Ensure the belt tensioner is functioning correctly and providing adequate tension before installing the new belt. Do not use excessive force to pry the belt onto the pulleys, as this can damage the belt or pulleys.

Service Note

Inspect the belt tensioner and all accessory pulleys for proper function and alignment when replacing the serpentine belt.
