296-8060 Oil Pressure Sensor — Cat 120K 12K

This is a direct-replacement oil pressure sensor for Caterpillar engines, crucial for monitoring and reporting the engine's lubrication system pressure. Manufactured to precise specifications, it offers reliable performance and accuracy, unlike a faulty sensor that provides incorrect readings or fails entirely. Operators may observe a fluctuating or absent oil pressure gauge reading, or receive false warning lights when this sensor malfunctions.

Installation & Application Notes

Inspect mating surfaces for wear before fitting. Use torque specs from service manual. Replace gaskets and seals as a set — reusing compressed gaskets causes oil leaks. Clean all oil passages with compressed air.

Always consult the OEM service manual for model-specific torque values and procedures. WhatsApp our technical team if you need fitment guidance.

Failure Symptoms

The first sign of a failing oil pressure sensor is often an erratic or inaccurate reading on the engine's oil pressure gauge. If the sensor fails completely, the gauge may read zero or a warning light may illuminate, even if oil pressure is normal. Continued operation without accurate oil pressure monitoring risks severe engine damage due to lack of lubrication.

Installation Tip

Ensure the electrical connector is clean and securely attached to the sensor after installation. Do not use excessive force when threading the sensor into the engine block, as this can damage the threads.

Service Note

After installing a new oil pressure sensor, it is recommended to check the engine oil level and condition.
