238-2227 Fuel Tank Sensor — Cat 305 306

This fuel tank sensor accurately monitors the fuel level within the tank, providing critical data to the equipment's control system. Manufactured to precise specifications, it offers reliable readings and durability, unlike a faulty or worn sensor. Operators may notice inaccurate fuel gauge readings, warning lights for low fuel, or intermittent engine stalling when this sensor begins to fail.

Installation & Application Notes

Inspect mating surfaces for wear before fitting. Use torque specs from service manual. Replace gaskets and seals as a set — reusing compressed gaskets causes oil leaks. Clean all oil passages with compressed air.

Always consult the OEM service manual for model-specific torque values and procedures. WhatsApp our technical team if you need fitment guidance.

Failure Symptoms

The first indication of a failing fuel tank sensor is often an inaccurate fuel gauge reading, showing more or less fuel than is actually present. If ignored, the system may fail to alert the operator of critically low fuel levels, potentially leading to unexpected shutdowns. Running out of fuel unexpectedly can cause engine damage and operational delays.

Installation Tip

Ensure the fuel tank is nearly empty and the area around the sensor is clean before removal to prevent contamination. Do not overtighten the new sensor, as this can damage the threads or the fuel tank sealing surface.

Service Note

Inspect the fuel lines, fuel filter, and fuel pump for any signs of contamination or wear when replacing the fuel tank sensor.
