This is a 24-volt, 12-tooth starter motor designed to initiate the engine cranking process in Caterpillar machinery. Installation & Application Notes

Inspect mating surfaces for wear before fitting. Use torque specs from service manual. Replace gaskets and seals as a set — reusing compressed gaskets causes oil leaks. Clean all oil passages with compressed air.

Always consult the OEM service manual for model-specific torque values and procedures. WhatsApp our technical team if you need fitment guidance.

Failure Symptoms

The most common symptom is slow or hesitant engine cranking, often accompanied by a grinding noise. If the problem progresses, the starter may fail to engage the flywheel, resulting in a clicking sound or no response when the key is turned. Complete failure of the starter motor will prevent the engine from starting altogether.

Installation Tip

Ensure the battery terminals are clean and the battery voltage is fully charged before connecting the starter motor. Double-check that the starter mounting bolts are securely tightened to the specified torque to prevent vibration-related issues.

Service Note

Inspect the engine's flywheel ring gear for wear or damage and check the battery and charging system when replacing the starter motor.
