Failure Symptoms

The initial symptom of a failing fuel water separator is often a water-in-fuel warning light or a slight hesitation during acceleration. If left unaddressed, the engine may experience intermittent power loss, rough idling, and eventually fail to start due to contaminated fuel reaching the injectors. Continued operation with a compromised separator risks severe damage to the fuel injection system.

Installation Tip

Ensure the sealing surfaces on both the separator and the mounting bracket are clean and free of old gasket material before installation. Properly seat the O-ring and tighten the separator by hand to the specified mark or until snug, avoiding overtightening.

Service Note

Drain any accumulated water from the separator bowl before installation, and inspect the fuel lines for leaks or damage.
