196-6983 Oil Cooler — Cat 3126B 120H

This oil cooler is a vital component for regulating engine oil temperature in CAT equipment, preventing overheating and maintaining optimal lubrication. It is constructed from durable materials designed to withstand thermal stress and pressure, offering reliable performance compared to a corroded or leaking cooler. Operators may observe a rise in engine oil temperature, a decrease in oil pressure when hot, or external coolant or oil leaks.

Installation & Application Notes

Inspect mating surfaces for wear before fitting. Use torque specs from service manual. Replace gaskets and seals as a set — reusing compressed gaskets causes oil leaks. Clean all oil passages with compressed air.

Always consult the OEM service manual for model-specific torque values and procedures. WhatsApp our technical team if you need fitment guidance.

Failure Symptoms

The initial symptom of a failing oil cooler is often a gradual increase in engine oil temperature, especially under load. If left unaddressed, the cooler may develop internal leaks between oil and coolant passages, or external leaks, leading to loss of lubrication effectiveness. The worst consequence is engine damage due to prolonged overheating or lubrication failure.

Installation Tip

Ensure all sealing surfaces for the oil and coolant lines are perfectly clean and free of old gasket material before connecting. Do not overtighten the fittings, as this can strip threads or crack the cooler housing.

Service Note

Inspect the engine coolant for signs of oil contamination and check the engine oil for coolant contamination when replacing the oil cooler.
