184-3124 Hydraulic Axial Piston Pump — Cat 3406 C15

This is a high-pressure hydraulic axial piston pump, a critical component responsible for generating the flow and pressure required for the main hydraulic systems in CAT equipment. Built to exacting OEM standards, it provides consistent performance unlike a worn pump exhibiting reduced flow or internal leakage. Operators may notice slow or erratic hydraulic functions, a whining noise from the pump, and overheating of the hydraulic fluid.

Installation & Application Notes

Inspect mating surfaces for wear before fitting. Use torque specs from service manual. Replace gaskets and seals as a set — reusing compressed gaskets causes oil leaks. Clean all oil passages with compressed air.

Always consult the OEM service manual for model-specific torque values and procedures. WhatsApp our technical team if you need fitment guidance.

Failure Symptoms

Early indications of pump failure include sluggish hydraulic movements and a noticeable increase in operating temperature of the hydraulic oil. If left unaddressed, the pump's output will continue to degrade, leading to intermittent loss of hydraulic function and potential damage to other hydraulic components. Continued operation risks complete loss of hydraulic power, rendering the equipment inoperable.

Installation Tip

Thoroughly flush the hydraulic system and replace all filters before installing a new pump to remove any contaminants. Ensure the pump shaft is properly aligned with the drive coupling to prevent premature wear.

Service Note

Inspect hydraulic hoses, seals, and the hydraulic fluid reservoir for signs of wear or contamination when replacing the pump.
