156-8263 Piston — Cat 3306

This is a CAT Piston, a key component in the engine's cylinder that moves up and down to facilitate the combustion process and generate power. Manufactured to precise OEM specifications, it ensures proper sealing and efficient heat transfer, unlike a worn piston which may exhibit signs of wear, cracking, or improper fit. Operators may notice a decrease in engine power, increased oil consumption, or audible knocking sounds from the engine if this part is failing.

Installation & Application Notes

Inspect mating surfaces for wear before fitting. Use torque specs from service manual. Replace gaskets and seals as a set — reusing compressed gaskets causes oil leaks. Clean all oil passages with compressed air.

Always consult the OEM service manual for model-specific torque values and procedures. WhatsApp our technical team if you need fitment guidance.

Failure Symptoms

Initial symptoms of a faulty piston may include a rough engine idle, reduced power output, or visible smoke from the exhaust. If left unaddressed, continued operation can lead to increased oil burning, potential blow-by, and eventual damage to the cylinder liner and other internal engine components. Severe wear can compromise engine integrity and lead to costly repairs.

Installation Tip

Ensure the piston ring gaps are staggered correctly around the piston circumference to prevent blow-by and oil consumption. Never use a hammer or excessive force to install the piston into the cylinder bore.

Service Note

Always inspect the cylinder liner for wear or damage and consider replacing the piston rings and connecting rod bearings when installing a new piston.
