CATCooling System

383-6407 Radiator — Cat 349D

This radiator is a critical heat exchanger within the engine's cooling system, designed to lower the temperature of the coolant before it circulates back to the engine. Manufactured to meet stringent OEM quality benchmarks, it offers superior heat dissipation and durability compared to a worn or corroded unit. Operators may notice the engine temperature gauge consistently reading higher than normal or observe steam from the engine bay if the radiator is failing.

Installation & Application Notes

Flush cooling system with distilled water before refilling. Use pre-mixed coolant — never plain water, which causes corrosion. Pressure-test system after any cooling repair. Check thermostat by immersing in hot water — should open at rated temperature.

Always consult the OEM service manual for model-specific torque values and procedures. WhatsApp our technical team if you need fitment guidance.

Failure Symptoms

Early signs of radiator failure include visible coolant leaks, a persistent sweet smell of coolant, or a noticeable drop in coolant level. If ignored, the engine will begin to overheat, leading to reduced performance and potential engine damage. Continued operation with a compromised radiator can cause severe internal engine damage due to excessive heat.

Installation Tip

Ensure all mounting brackets and connections are properly aligned before tightening to prevent stress on the radiator core. Always use new sealing washers or gaskets when connecting coolant lines to the radiator.

Service Note

Inspect and clean the radiator fins, and check the condition of the radiator cap and hoses during replacement.
