CATBearing & Bushing

8N9068 Bearing — Cat

This is a CAT Main Bearing (Thrust) designed to control axial movement and support thrust loads in Caterpillar engines, specifically the 3208 series. Manufactured to precise OEM standards, it offers superior friction reduction and durability compared to a worn thrust bearing. Operators may notice increased engine noise, oil pressure issues, or a loss of engine power when this bearing begins to fail.

Installation & Application Notes

Never strike bearings directly — use a bearing press or driver set. Heat housing (not bearing) to ease installation. Replace bearings in sets where applicable. Check housing bore diameter before fitting — out-of-round bores destroy new bearings.

Always consult the OEM service manual for model-specific torque values and procedures. WhatsApp our technical team if you need fitment guidance.

Failure Symptoms

Initial symptoms may include a distinct knocking sound that changes with engine RPM or a noticeable increase in crankshaft end play. If left unaddressed, severe crankshaft and block damage can occur, potentially leading to engine failure. Continued operation risks catastrophic internal engine damage.

Installation Tip

Ensure the crankshaft thrust surfaces and the bearing mating surfaces are perfectly clean and free of any debris. Do not lubricate the thrust faces of the bearing before initial installation, as this can affect seating.

Service Note

Inspect the crankshaft for wear on the thrust surfaces and check the main bearing clearances.
