Failure Symptoms

The first sign of a failing universal joint is often a clunking or knocking sound when shifting between forward and reverse or when accelerating. This can progress to noticeable vibration through the machine's frame and a potential loss of drive power. Continued operation risks complete joint failure, which can cause severe damage to the driveline components.

Installation Tip

Ensure the yoke alignment marks are properly matched before tightening the U-bolt or strap bolts to maintain driveline balance. Do not overtighten the fasteners, as this can damage the bearing caps.
