CATBearing & Bushing

5D6297 5D6298 — Cat 769

This is a high-quality bearing designed to support loads and reduce friction in rotating assemblies within Caterpillar heavy equipment. Manufactured to meet stringent OEM standards, it provides superior durability and smooth operation compared to a worn bearing that exhibits increased play, noise, and heat. Operators may notice abnormal noises, excessive vibration, or a loss of rotational efficiency when this bearing begins to fail.

Installation & Application Notes

Never strike bearings directly — use a bearing press or driver set. Heat housing (not bearing) to ease installation. Replace bearings in sets where applicable. Check housing bore diameter before fitting — out-of-round bores destroy new bearings.

Always consult the OEM service manual for model-specific torque values and procedures. WhatsApp our technical team if you need fitment guidance.

Failure Symptoms

Early signs of bearing failure include unusual noises such as humming, grinding, or knocking, often accompanied by increased vibration. If ignored, the noise and vibration will intensify, and the bearing may overheat, potentially causing seizure of the rotating component. This can lead to significant downtime and damage to adjacent parts.

Installation Tip

Ensure the bearing seat in the housing and the shaft are perfectly clean and free from burrs before installation. Avoid applying force to the bearing's outer ring when pressing it onto a shaft, or to the inner ring when pressing it into a housing.

Service Note

Inspect the shaft and housing for any signs of wear, scoring, or damage, and check any associated seals for integrity.
