4S5049 Guard Assem. (R.H.) — Cat D6C D6D

This is a right-hand side guard assembly designed to protect vital undercarriage components from debris and impact. Manufactured to meet Caterpillar's rigorous specifications, it provides robust protection and durability, unlike a damaged or missing guard that leaves critical parts exposed. Operators may notice increased wear on exposed components or hear impacts from debris hitting unprotected areas when this guard is compromised.

Installation & Application Notes

Never strike bearings directly — use a bearing press or driver set. Heat housing (not bearing) to ease installation. Replace bearings in sets where applicable. Check housing bore diameter before fitting — out-of-round bores destroy new bearings.

Always consult the OEM service manual for model-specific torque values and procedures. WhatsApp our technical team if you need fitment guidance.

Failure Symptoms

Initial signs of a compromised guard include visible damage such as cracks or severe dents, or the sound of debris impacting unprotected components. If ignored, further impacts can cause direct damage to hydraulic lines, drive components, or the frame itself. The worst consequence is severe damage to critical undercarriage systems, leading to extensive repair costs and operational downtime.

Installation Tip

Ensure all mounting points and hardware are clean and free of rust or damage before attaching the new guard. Do not overtighten fasteners, as this can strip threads or deform the mounting surface.

Service Note

Inspect the adjacent hydraulic lines, hoses, and frame structure for any damage that may have occurred due to the previous guard's condition.
