CATBearing & Bushing

2388283 Bearing — Cat 236B 236B3

This is a precision-engineered bearing designed to facilitate smooth rotation and support loads in the compact equipment series. Manufactured to strict tolerances, it ensures reliable performance and longevity, unlike a worn bearing which can cause binding and premature wear on mating components. Operators may notice increased steering effort, unusual noises from the axle or wheel area, or a general decrease in maneuverability when this bearing begins to fail.

Installation & Application Notes

Never strike bearings directly — use a bearing press or driver set. Heat housing (not bearing) to ease installation. Replace bearings in sets where applicable. Check housing bore diameter before fitting — out-of-round bores destroy new bearings.

Always consult the OEM service manual for model-specific torque values and procedures. WhatsApp our technical team if you need fitment guidance.

Failure Symptoms

Early signs of bearing failure include intermittent grinding noises, especially when turning, and a slight increase in steering effort. If ignored, the bearing will continue to wear, leading to increased play in the wheel, potential wobbling, and accelerated damage to the axle or hub. Continued operation risks wheel detachment or axle failure, compromising machine stability and control.

Installation Tip

Thoroughly clean the bearing seat in the hub or axle housing, removing all traces of old grease and debris. Avoid pressing the bearing onto the shaft using the inner race; apply force only to the outer race when seating it in the housing.

Service Note

Inspect the axle shaft and wheel hub for any signs of damage or excessive wear, and clean the bearing bore meticulously before installation.
