CATBearing & Bushing

1N4322 Main Bearing — Cat Engine: D353

This main bearing is a crucial component for the engine's crankshaft, designed to provide a low-friction interface for smooth rotation. Manufactured to high standards, it offers superior wear resistance and longevity compared to a compromised bearing. Operators may observe a persistent knocking sound from the engine, accompanied by a reduction in oil pressure, as indicators of a failing main bearing.

Installation & Application Notes

Never strike bearings directly — use a bearing press or driver set. Heat housing (not bearing) to ease installation. Replace bearings in sets where applicable. Check housing bore diameter before fitting — out-of-round bores destroy new bearings.

Always consult the OEM service manual for model-specific torque values and procedures. WhatsApp our technical team if you need fitment guidance.

Failure Symptoms

A distinct deep knocking sound emanating from the engine, particularly noticeable when it is running, is the primary symptom. If left unaddressed, the knocking will become louder and more frequent, and oil pressure readings may fall below normal operating levels. Continued operation risks significant damage to the crankshaft and engine block.

Installation Tip

Carefully inspect the crankshaft journals for any signs of wear or damage before installing new bearings; any imperfections must be addressed. Ensure the bearing caps are correctly oriented and torqued to specification.

Service Note

When replacing main bearings, it is prudent to also inspect and replace connecting rod bearings and check the oil pump for proper function.
