CATBearing & Bushing

1969530 Main Bearing Set — Cat 785

This is a set of precision-engineered main bearings designed to support the crankshaft within the engine block, ensuring proper alignment and minimal friction during operation. Manufactured to meet rigorous CAT specifications, these bearings offer superior load-bearing capacity and wear resistance compared to a worn set. Operators may experience a drop in oil pressure, knocking sounds from the engine, or blue exhaust smoke when this main bearing set begins to fail.

Installation & Application Notes

Never strike bearings directly — use a bearing press or driver set. Heat housing (not bearing) to ease installation. Replace bearings in sets where applicable. Check housing bore diameter before fitting — out-of-round bores destroy new bearings.

Always consult the OEM service manual for model-specific torque values and procedures. WhatsApp our technical team if you need fitment guidance.

Failure Symptoms

The first indication of main bearing failure is often a persistent knocking sound from the engine, particularly at idle or under load, accompanied by a noticeable drop in oil pressure. If left unaddressed, this can lead to severe crankshaft and block damage, potentially resulting in complete engine seizure. The consequence is a non-operational machine and extremely costly engine rebuild.

Installation Tip

Ensure the crankshaft journals and bearing bores are perfectly clean and free of any debris or scoring before installation. Never reuse old bearing bolts; always use new, properly torqued fasteners.

Service Note

Inspect the crankshaft journals for wear or damage, and check the oil pump and oil filter for any signs of blockage or material debris.
