CATBearing & Bushing

1496032 Main Bearing — Cat 5130 5130B

This is a high-performance main bearing designed to support the crankshaft within large Caterpillar diesel engines. It is precision-engineered to meet OEM standards, providing exceptional load capacity and wear resistance, unlike a worn bearing that can cause excessive crankshaft wear. Operators may experience a significant drop in oil pressure, knocking sounds from the engine, or a general loss of power when this bearing fails.

Installation & Application Notes

Never strike bearings directly — use a bearing press or driver set. Heat housing (not bearing) to ease installation. Replace bearings in sets where applicable. Check housing bore diameter before fitting — out-of-round bores destroy new bearings.

Always consult the OEM service manual for model-specific torque values and procedures. WhatsApp our technical team if you need fitment guidance.

Failure Symptoms

The first indication of failure is often a persistent knocking sound from the engine, especially under load, accompanied by a noticeable drop in oil pressure. If ignored, the bearing can disintegrate, leading to severe crankshaft and block damage. This can result in a complete engine failure requiring a costly rebuild.

Installation Tip

Ensure the crankshaft journals and bearing surfaces are immaculately clean and free of any abrasive material before installation. Never reuse old bearing bolts; always use new ones with the correct torque specifications.

Service Note

Inspect the crankshaft journals for scoring or out-of-roundness, and check connecting rod bearings for wear when replacing main bearings.
