CATBearing & Bushing

1450163 Main Bearing — Cat 320B

This is a CAT Main Bearing designed to support the crankshaft within the engine block, facilitating smooth rotation and maintaining precise clearances. Manufactured to meet OEM standards, it offers superior load distribution and wear resistance compared to a worn bearing which would exhibit scoring or material transfer. Operators may notice increased engine noise, particularly a knocking sound, or a drop in oil pressure when this main bearing begins to fail.

Installation & Application Notes

Never strike bearings directly — use a bearing press or driver set. Heat housing (not bearing) to ease installation. Replace bearings in sets where applicable. Check housing bore diameter before fitting — out-of-round bores destroy new bearings.

Always consult the OEM service manual for model-specific torque values and procedures. WhatsApp our technical team if you need fitment guidance.

Failure Symptoms

Early signs of main bearing failure include a persistent knocking sound from the engine, often more pronounced under load. If ignored, the knocking will become louder and more frequent, potentially accompanied by a significant drop in oil pressure. Continued operation risks severe crankshaft and engine block damage.

Installation Tip

Ensure the crankshaft journals and bearing surfaces are perfectly clean and free of any abrasive material. Never reuse old bearing shells, even if they appear undamaged.

Service Note

Replace all main bearings and inspect connecting rod bearings and thrust bearings simultaneously during an engine overhaul.
